The 2022 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) from venerable online poker operator PokerStars is in full swing. The series is open to players from most parts of the world including Canada.
PokerStars is available across Canada, including Quebec, British Colombia and Alberta. In Ontario, Canada’s largest province, PokerStars’ application to launch regulated online poker there still requires authorization from the regulators.
To help celebrate the big festival, players can Pick-a-Box for extra SCOOP-related prizes.
Here’s how the promotion works and what prizes you can win.
Everyone who logs into the client for SCOOP gets a single shot at the Pick-a-Box game. Prizes include SCOOP tickets for both main games and satellites, as well as entries to the $250k SCOOP Draw.
Extra entries to the game can be earned by completing daily challenges. Players can earn one entry per day after completing the daily opt-in challenge but only playing after the player has opted in counts towards the challenge.
Pick a Box for SCOOP Prizes
The Pick-a-Box promotion from PokerStars is running throughout the SCOOP series, from May 9 to May 29. The mini-game offers players a shot at various SCOOP-related prizes including:
- SCOOP Event Tickets
- SCOOP Satellite Tickets
- $250k SCOOP Draw Tickets
Players get one entry off the bat and can opt-in for more through the Challenges section in the client. Once a player opts-in, 50 cents worth of rake will earn a player 2.5 redemption points, enough for a daily entry to the Pick-a-Box promotion.
Tickets and prizes won during the Pick-a-Box mini-game can be found in My Rewards and Tournament Tickets in the client. In addition to game tickets, players can win the chance at bigger prizes with an entry into the $250k SCOOP Draw.
Draws take place weekly, with the first draw running on May 9 at 10 am ET. After that, draws run weekly on Sundays at midnight until the final draw on May 29.

2022 SCOOP So Far
SCOOP 2022 has been running since May 8 and looks to be crushing guarantees for the most part. The opening day saw the kickoff break the guarantee for all three buy-in levels, with SCOOP-02-H: $300k Guaranteed SCOOP Kickoff collecting $412.5k for a $530 buy-in.
While not every game has broken its guarantee, the hits have been more frequent than the misses over the first week of play. Among the other early highlights were the $109 SCOOP-08-M, collecting $521k on a $400k guarantee, and the $530 SCOOP-10-H which collected $404.5k on a $275k guarantee.
At the time of writing, the series has thus far generated over $35 million in prize money. Millions in prize money are still to be rewarded.
The biggest test will come in its final weekend when it hosts three No-Limit Hold’em Main Events with combined guarantees of over $11 million. The Low-tier $109 buy-in guarantees $2.5 million, the Mid-tier with a $1050 entry fee promises $4 million and the $10,300 High Roller Main guarantees $5 million — the biggest of the series.
PokerStars SCOOP is ongoing through June 1, and players are eligible for daily challenge entries to the Pick-a-Box promotion throughout the series.
