The Sunday Million has been running for 17 years now, and PokerStars has announced a grand celebration to mark the occasion, with the 17th Anniversary Sunday Million scheduled to run on Sunday, March 26, on the international dot-com platform.
The event will feature a buy-in fee of $215 like it did back in the day and an impressive $7,500,000 guaranteed prize pool. However, if history is anything to go by, the $7.5 million guarantee is likely to be exceeded by a fair margin.
As is usually the case, PokerStars will give away thousands of seats to the Anniversary Sunday Million, and all Canadian players except those from Ontario will be eligible to compete for seats or pay their entry fee and play the tournament straight-up.
What to Expect from the 17th Anniversary Sunday Million
The 17th Anniversary Sunday Million will run on Sunday, March 26, in the 06:05 GMT slot, which means players in Montréal will play in it at 01:05 in the afternoon, and those in Vancouver will play at 10:05 in the morning.
The event will feature a multi-day structure, which is not typical for a Sunday Million, but will be necessary for this special anniversary edition.
Day 1 will see players play through 18 levels of 20 minutes each, offering plenty of gameplay as the deep starting stack will mean a lot of maneuvering room. Up to five re-entries will be available to each player, offering additional chances to those who bust in the early hours.
For those good and/or lucky enough to survive Day 1, a grueling Day 2 will play out on Monday, with 32 levels of play on the schedule, each lasting 15 minutes. Play will conclude on Tuesday, March 28, with the few remaining players returning to fight it out for the title and a first-place prize that may exceed the million-dollar mark.
