Ontario’s regulated online gambling market generated C$400.6 million in gross revenue in June, down 3% from May but up 30.5% from a year earlier. May’s C$413.1 million had been the second-best month on record.
iGaming Ontario’s June market report showed online casinos bringing in C$316.8 million, down 3% from May’s record C$326.5 million. Sports betting revenue was C$78.6 million, also down 3%, and online poker produced C$5.2 million, down 4%.
Sports wagering was still the standout. Ontarians wagered C$1.033 billion on sports, esports, proposition and novelty bets, and exchange betting, up 6% from May and 35% from June 2025. iGaming Ontario does not break out betting by sport, and the figure included the first three weeks of the men’s World Cup of Soccer, but it marked the eighth month in the previous 12 months that sports handle topped C$1 billion. Active player accounts rose 5% to 1.319 million, while average revenue per active account fell 8% to C$304.
A separate summary of the report said cash wagers across the market were C$9.458 billion in June, flat from May. The Globe and Mail reported that sportsbooks were hoping the tournament would draw new bettors and help shift some of them toward casino and other online games. It also said the June account total was the second-highest on record, behind January’s 1.33 million.
Since the market launched on April 4, 2022, total online gambling revenue has exceeded C$12.6 billion, including about C$9.5 billion from online casinos, C$2.8 billion from sports betting and C$259.7 million from online poker. Total taxes have surpassed about C$2.52 billion.
iGaming Ontario’s market reporting excludes Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s offering and pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing. The province originally estimated that about 70% of online gambling was taking place on unregulated sites before the regulated market opened, and Ipsos said 83.7% of Ontario online gamblers surveyed in 2025 reported using regulated websites.
