Mike Leah won the third World Series of Poker bracelet of his career on Sept. 28, taking down the C$600 No-Limit Hold’em Ultra Stack in WSOP Online Ontario. Within hours, he reached another final table in the C$400 PLOSSUS Bounty but finished fifth, falling short of a second bracelet on the same day.
The two-day Ultra Stack, WSOP Online Event #5 on GGPoker Ontario, drew 535 entries and generated a C$304,950 prize pool, narrowly exceeding its $300,000 guarantee. Leah began the final table with 153 big blinds and won after Day 2, which had started at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28.
Published accounts differ on the cash award. F5 Poker listed Leah’s winner’s prize as $47,007, while Spade Poker reported C$47,482. F5 Poker reported that the victory included the gold bracelet and a $5,000 WSOP Paradise package, covering entry to a Circuit Championship event and accommodation at Baha Mar in the Bahamas during the December festival.
Leah had publicly forecast the result on X before play, writing: “Today I will win WSOP bracelet #3 GGPoker@GGPokerCA.” The Ontario title was his second bracelet of the year, following victory in April’s €2,750 Rounder Cup at WSOP Europe in Prague, where he beat 647 entries for €292,000.
His first bracelet came in the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific $5,000 High Roller in Melbourne, worth AU$342,800. Poker.org put Leah’s career tournament earnings at close to $10 million at the start of the week, across a 20-year tournament career.
The rapid bid for bracelet number four began while the Ultra Stack and PLOSSUS Day 2s were running simultaneously. When Leah was at the Ultra Stack final table, 61 players remained in the PLOSSUS. He won the Ultra Stack a little more than two hours after the two events began, then made the seven-handed PLOSSUS final table roughly two hours later.
Leah started that final table fourth in chips with 63 big blinds, behind leader Alex Di Felice’s 94. With five players remaining, the pair played a 29 million-chip pot that represented almost 70% of chips in play. Leah committed his chips on the flop with close to 70% equity, but the turn gave Di Felice more outs and the river completed the reversal.
Leah collected about $16,000 in prize money and bounties, with Spade Poker listing his fifth-place payout as C$16,189. He described the decisive hand on X as leaving him “1 card away from having ALL THE CHIPS.”
WSOP Online Ontario’s C$525 Closer Bounty runs on Oct. 4, followed by the $1 million-guaranteed Main Event, which resumes Oct. 5.
