Canadians will get a shot at a piece of more than $3.5 million from the newest force in the international online poker game, WPT Global. Starting July 20, the new operator is running the WPT Summer Festival with not one but two events guaranteeing $1 million each.
After a somewhat quiet launch earlier this year, WPT Global has emerged as the online face of the World Poker Tour (WPT), operating under the license from the WPT. The room is now running its first big tournament series, the $3.5 Million Guaranteed WPT Summer Festival.
While WPT Global is not accessible to players from Ontario, the rest of Canada can get into the action, and there looks to be tremendous value over the next month for Canadian tournament players. With 50 games through Aug 22 in formats like NLHE, PLO, and short-deck, most players will easily find something for themselves.
Two events guarantee $1 million each, with the $330 Main Event as one of those games. Day 1 starting flights begin on Friday, Aug 12, for the Main Event, but the more exciting one is the $1-for-$1-Million tournament.
For just $1, players will get a shot at $1 million guaranteed with opening flights running throughout the series and the final day playing out on Sunday, Aug 21.

The New Kid on the Block
WPT Global is the newest operator on the global online poker scene after quietly coming online in April of 2022.
While the complete structure of the business is a bit murky at the moment, the player pool at WPT Global did not start from scratch. Poker Industry PRO was unable to pin down precisely who WPT Global is partnered with, but it is believed to include players from two Asian “app-based” poker networks, which gives the site a solid player pool to draw from, though many games are played in CNY.

50 Games over the Next Month
WPT Global will be putting on the $3.5 million guaranteed _WPT Summer Festival_as one of its first significant pushes into the global online poker market.
In addition to the two big games with $1 million guaranteed, there is lots of poker action throughout the series, and players will get a chance at extra prizes like entries to the Tournament of Champions Freeroll for seats to the $15 Million Guarantee WPT World Championship this December at Wynn Las Vegas.
Of course, the big news for the series will be the two $1 million games. The WPT Summer Festival Main Event runs from Aug 12 through Aug 22, with several Day 1 flights for players to book a seat for Day 2.
But for the hugest value of the series, players will be looking to the massive $1-for-$1-Million event. There are two flights every Wednesday and Sunday during the festival, playing down to the final day and live-streamed final table on Aug 22.
