The Summer Festival, the first MTT series powered by WPT Global, a newcomer to the online poker space, has been running for a couple of weeks, and we are now into the second — and arguably the most exciting — half of it.
To remind you, WPT Global is welcoming players from all of Canada, with the exception of Ontario, and those looking for good tournament value will undoubtedly find plenty of it in the $3.5 million guaranteed series.
The main highlight of the Summer Festival is the $1 For $1 Million guaranteed event. Initially, the tournament was supposed to conclude on August 22. However, the operator decided to extend it and give as many players as possible a chance to get involved in this extremely valuable event. According to the new schedule, the final day will take place on October 2, and players will have numerous opportunities to play the Day 1 flight leading up to it.

More Chances to Get Involved With $1 For $1 Million Event
Starting flights for the $1 For $1 Million tournament kicked off on July 20 and have been running on Wednesdays and Sundays (twice per day). Initially, WPT Global wanted to conclude the tournament with a live-streamed final table on August 22, but they decided to move the schedule around a bit.
According to the latest information, the final day of the tournament will now take place on October 2, and there will be numerous Day 1 flights available in the client in the following weeks. In the PR announcing this decision, WPT Global emphasized that it had nothing to do with reducing the overlay (as they knew that the event would have an overlay of over $900K from the get-go) but rather to give more players a chance to get involved.
Looking at the current numbers, the tournament will likely end up with an overlay well over $900,000, so it is fair to say this is probably the most valuable event of the year and one of the most valuable online tournaments in poker history.
Once again, you are free to register and play on WPT Global from anywhere in Canada except for Ontario. As you might know, Ontario has recently passed a law regulating online poker, requiring operators to apply for a separate license if they want to offer their services in the province.
$1,000,000 GTD Main Event Kicks Off
Another $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament on the Summer Festival schedule is the $330 Main Event. Starting flights kick off on August 12 and will run every day until August 21, when Day 2 takes place.
All players who make it into the top 20% of the field in any starting flights will advance to Day 2, playing down to the final table of eight. At this point, the play will stop, and the remaining players will return for the live-streamed final table on August 22.
Players can take multiple Day 1 shots even if they qualify for Day 2. If one player qualifies more than once, they will carry their largest stack forward.
For players that find the direct buy-in too steep for their bankrolls, numerous cheaper satellites are also running around the clock on WPT Global, awarding tickets for the Main Event. Also, every new player to the site can take advantage of the WPT Global Deposit Bonus to get up to $1200 in bonus funds — a nice sizeable boost to your tournament bankroll.
Mini Main With $100,000 Guaranteed
Running concurrently with the big one will be the Mini Main Event. The tournament features a buy-in of $33 and offers a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000, so this one has quite a bit of value. Plus, the asking price is much more affordable.
Starting flights are available daily from August 12 to 21, and the final day is August 21. Day 2 will play straight down to the winner, and there will be no delay for the final table.
It is also worth mentioning that the operator has been running numerous promotions for new depositors, giving away Summer Festival tickets alongside its standard $1200 bonus match welcome offer. The free ticket promotion runs until August 22.
