PokerStars never fails to deliver when it comes to hot tournament poker action, and this winter will be no different, as the operator has just announced the launch of a unique New Year Series, which will comprise 334 separate events played across three buy-in orbits.
The New Year Series will launch on Christmas Day, December 25, and run well into the new year, as the last of events will be played out on January 17.
The 24 days of action will give PokerStars players across Canada (except for Ontario) an opportunity to compete across various poker games and formats, ranging from NLHE and PLO to 8-Game, Badugi, Stud, and other mixed game variants.
The concept of three buy-in orbits is one that PokerStars players will now be well accustomed to, and it is designed to allow most players a chance to take part, regardless of the size of their bankroll or their buy-in preference.

New Year Series Highlights
As the name suggests, the New Year Series will run over the holiday season and feature several themed events focusing on the turn of the year.
The Series will host a total of 334 events, with a combined guaranteed prize pool of $40,000,000, plenty to draw the attention of high-rollers and lower-stakes players alike.
The _Series_’ Main Events will run from January 15 to 17, on the final days of the festival, and will feature the following buy-ins and guarantees:
- 109 Main Event — $1,000,000 Guaranteed
- 1,050 Main Event — $1,250,000 Guaranteed
- 5,200 Main Event — $1,500,000 Guaranteed
The three buy-in brackets will allow just about anyone to enter at least one of the Main Events, with plenty of satellite tournaments running on the side and giving players a chance to win their way into each of these for a fraction of the price.
On New Year’s Day, January 1, PokerStars will also throw three unique tournaments to celebrate the turn of the year with themed buy-ins and more:
- $20.30 Buy-In — $400,000 Guaranteed
- $202.30 Buy-In — $1,000,000 Guaranteed
- $2023 Buy-In — $400,000 Guaranteed
Along with these tournaments, which could be a great way to spend the first evening of the new year, PokerStars will also have several other fun events.
This includes the $109 Christmas Edition and New Year Edition events with $125,000 guarantees, a $55 Women’s Event, the $215 PLO Main Event, and a High-Roller Week that will start on January 8 and run for seven days.
