The holiday season is in full swing, with Christmas now just days away. While holiday preparations are ongoing, Ontario online poker players have even more to look forward to, as PokerStars Ontario is throwing one of the most extensive poker series in the province yet.

The Winter Series follows PokerStars Ontario’s successful Fall Fest Series. The festivities will launch December 26, the second day of Christmas, popularly called Boxing Day, and will run well into the New Year, with games going until January 10.

As is usually the case, PokerStars Ontario will run a well-rounded schedule of poker tournaments, including a variety of buy-ins and poker formats. Games with buy-ins as low as $3 and as high as $2000 are on the docket, and poker players with all sorts of preferences will get their chance to shine.

From Texas Hold 'em to Pot Limit Omaha and 8-Game, different poker variations and gameplay formats such as mystery bounty, turbo, and hyper-turbo are all a part of the Winter Series.

Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming Winter Series marquee events.

PokerStars Ontario’s Winter Series: Tournament Highlights

The Winter Series will be one of the biggest poker festivals the province of Ontario has seen yet. Action will run for 16 days, with dozens of events combining for $1.4 million in guaranteed prize pools.

The most significant chunk of this $1.4 million will fall off to the Winter Series Main Event, a $300 buy-in tournament that will feature a massive $150,000 guarantee, possibly offering an overlay to all the players who decide to enter outright or qualify for the tournament, which kicks off on January 8.

Most tournaments in the Winter Series will run across three different buy-in orbits, allowing players with different bankrolls to enjoy the games without breaking the bank.

The Mini Main Event version will come at a discounted price of $50 but still offers a $30,000 guarantee, which is an excellent shot for those looking to play in the Main at a more affordable rate.

PokerStars Ontario will also run a $50 Phased event, which will be the first to kick off, and will feature multiple Phase 1s before concluding in Phase 2 on January 9. This event, too, will offer a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool.

High rollers in Ontario will also have plenty to look forward to, with six events in the upper buy-in range of $1000 to $2000, with guarantees of up to $75,000. Despite the comparatively small guarantees, the high rollers could also offer some overlay, considering the steep price of admission.

Something for All Tastes & Bankrolls

Along with these critical tournaments, PokerStars will run dozens of other events across all three orbits, with 61 numbered games on the schedule}, most offering three separate versions.

Tournaments will highlight a variety of poker formats and variations, meaning mixed game players will get their chance to shine as well.
