PokerStars has set the 25th World Championship of Online Poker for September 6 to 30 and is launching WCOOP Boot Camp as a warm-up series from August 2 to 17. The boot camp will feature 65 events, buy-ins from $2.20 to $1,050 and more than $6.5 million in combined guarantees.
The series is designed to mirror the variety of the WCOOP schedule. Reported formats include No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E., 8-Game, No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw, Mystery Bounty and Progressive Knockout, with events spread across full-ring, six-max and heads-up tables and different blind structures.
Two Main Events are set for August 16. The low edition is a $109 No-Limit Hold’em event with a $500,000 guarantee, while the high edition carries a $1,050 buy-in and a $300,000 guarantee.
PokerStars is also partnering with BBZ Poker for free coaching sessions on the BBZ Discord server. Coverage differed on the timing: Hipther said the sessions run at 1 p.m. CEST on Fridays from July 31 to August 14, while PokerNews reported them at 1 p.m. EST on Fridays, ending with a $0.01 password-protected tournament at 2 p.m. CEST that can award up to $1,500 in WCOOP tickets.
Alongside WCOOP and Boot Camp, PokerStars announced a 20th Anniversary Sunday Million with a $5 million guarantee. The tournament is run as a 10-week phased event with daily $109 Phase 1 heats through September 6, and players who survive a heat carry their chip stacks into Phase 2.
PokerStars is also offering Special Edition Spin & Go’s starting at $0.75, where the winner-take-all prize is a $109 Phase 1 Sunday Million ticket 2,000 times out of 1 million. In a $4 version, the odds of landing that ticket rise to 1.25%.
