The last few weeks have been hectic at PokerStars Ontario, as the operator’s Winter Series proved to be a massive success, and the tempo is set to continue over the coming days and weeks.
The celebrations continue with the Chinese New Year Series, which will run until January 23 and features 75 poker tournaments with a wide range of buy-ins and tournament format options.
The festival will celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rabbit and offers PokerStars Ontario players another chance to compete for massive guaranteed prize pools, which will be in a similar range to those provided by the recent Winter Series.
Players can expect overlays in the Chinese New Year Series prize pools if history is anything to go by. However, the recent growth of PokerStars Ontario has seen more and more tournaments achieve their full guarantees.
With buy-ins starting from just $5 and going up to $1000, the Chinese New Year Series promises to be another exhilarating online poker festival for all the players in the real money Ontario online poker market.
What to Expect from the Chinese New Year Series
The Chinese New Year festival kicked off on January 13 with a handful of exciting events, and it is worth noting that nearly all of these events met their guarantees and attracted many players.
Over 400 players have entered some of the smaller buy-in events already. A record of 527 entries was made into the $100 Sunday Special, beating the $50k guarantee and making this 2-day event a real thrill for anyone who entered it last Sunday.
Some overlay was seen in events like the $200 Saturday Special and the $1k Dragon Dance, although these also came very close to the expected numbers.
The coming days will offer the remainder of the 75 scheduled events, including the $500 Super High Roller on Wednesday, the $1k Lion Dance on Thursday, and the big Year of the Rabbit Main Event with a $65k guarantee on Sunday, January 22.
Plenty of other progressive KO and freezeout events will play out over the next week, with most of them played over NLH tables and a handful of PLO and PLO8 events in the cards.
Both lower and higher stakes PokerStars Ontario players will have an opportunity to compete in the coming days, as events are scheduled across all buy-ins, including several $5 tournaments and a couple of $500 Super High Roller events.
