With this year’s Road To Vegas, we’re going to see more GGPoker players than ever make their way to the world’s biggest live poker tournament. Ontario online poker players will have a chance to win a seat to the $10,000 Main Event for the 2023 World Series of Poker, according to GGPoker.

WSOP’s exclusive international partner has been running online bracelet events and sending hundreds of players to the tournament series for the past three years. Last year, it sent nearly 250 players to the iconic Main Event with the $10k buy-in.

The operator confirmed to pokerfuse earlier this month that Ontarians will be able to compete for the seat on the GGPoker Ontario app, which operates in partnership with WSOP.

Additional details were not immediately available, but GGPoker said the campaign is expected to kick off in March.

Operator Will Award More Than 600 Main Event Seats

Organizers of the WSOP, now in its 54th year, are trying to make this year’s event the biggest ever.

With that goal in mind, GGPoker has committed to sending more than 600 players to the Main Event — more than double the official qualifiers from the 2022 campaign.

“With this year’s Road To Vegas, we’re going to see more GGPoker players than ever make their way to the world’s biggest live poker tournament,” Paul Burke, Head of Public Relations at GGPoker, told Poker Industry PRO.

“We can’t wait to see some of them make their mark in Las Vegas this summer and become WSOP legends.”

Sources confirm that the 2023 WSOP will begin in March. International qualifiers will provide at least 500 seats to the Main Event, with an additional 100 seats guaranteed to subscribers of ClubGG.net.

GGPoker also has additional WSOP packages that it plans to give away through various promotions, the operator told pokerfuse. Dozens of seats are also expected to be awarded through GGPoker.ca, the online poker platform available exclusively for online poker players in Ontario.

Qualifiers started at just $1 during the 2022 campaign. Direct satellites were also available last year, with buy-ins starting at $250. The 2022 package was valued at $12,500 and included:

  • A $10,000 seat to the WSOP Main Event
  • A seven-night hotel stay
  • Round-trip air travel to Las Vegas
  • Exclusive entry to the GGPoker Qualifier Last Longer promotion
  • Access to the GGPoker Players’ Party & GGPoker Platinum Lounge
  • Various gifts and merchandise

This year’s Road to Vegas campaign is expected to feature a similar satellite structure to that from 2022, with buy-ins starting at $1. Ontarians will also be able to buy in directly using the client software.

GGMasters Tournament is Also Available

Ontarians impatient for the WSOP action to start can make the time go faster by participating in the anniversary edition of the operator’s GGMasters tournament, which began on February 19 and runs through February 27.

GGPoker has pledged, for the first time, to add $100k to the prize pool for no additional cost. That means that regardless of how well the turnout is to its marquee event, there will be an additional $100k guaranteed.

The buy-in for GGMasters has been set at $150. The event was set up to feature seven Day 1 flights, each structured as a freezeout. Qualifiers are already underway, starting at just $2.
