BetMGM has added live dealer casino games streamed from Las Vegas to BetMGM Casino Alberta, giving players in the province access to real-time blackjack, roulette and baccarat hosted by professional dealers at MGM Resorts International venues. The company said the format is meant to make online play feel closer to the casino floor, with hands and spins unfolding live.
As reported in July, BetMGM had already opened preregistration for Alberta players ahead of the province’s July 13 market launch. Alberta became Canada’s second regulated online gambling market after Ontario, and Covers reported that 22 operators went live on opening day from a pool of 50 approved for licences.
The live dealer feed is being delivered through MGM Resorts’ live casino collaboration with Playtech. BetMGM said Alberta is one of the few regulated iGaming markets in North America where players can connect directly to real tables broadcast from Las Vegas rather than from a local studio.
The offer also includes Dual Play tables from Bellagio and MGM Grand, where online and in-person players take part in the same game. BetMGM said that broadens the casino content available to Alberta customers and extends the company’s MGM-linked product set in the province.
Rob Passerino, BetMGM’s director of gaming, said live dealer content remains one of the fastest-evolving categories in iGaming and argued that the live format adds authenticity because players can watch the action as it happens. Alberta’s market was one month past launch, with Covers reporting 3.2 million geolocation checks in the first 72 hours and more than 100,000 sign-ups to online casino operators.
