Our aim is for this partnership to be a win-win for our players and fans alike In partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), PokerStars Ontario has recently launched a brand-new poker tournament series running every single Sunday throughout the 2023-24 NHL season and offering valuable prizes for both poker and hockey fans.

The series, dubbed “Poker Night in Canada,” will feature a single poker event every Sunday throughout the season, with a special $50 tournament with a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool offered every last Sunday of the month.

On top of the cash prizes generated from player entries, the events will also offer special added prizes like Maple Leafs tickets and Red Spade Passes, providing plenty of extra value for all players who decide to join the action.

Speaking on the new venture, PokerStars Marketing Director Tom Warren said: “Our aim is for this partnership to be a win-win for our players and fans alike — making the experience of playing with PokerStars more epic thanks to the partnership, and finding ways to make the fan experience of watching their teams better too.”

PokerStars and MLSE Partnership Gives Birth to Poker Night in Canada

As already mentioned, Poker Night in Canada was born out of a partnership between PokerStars parent company Flutter Entertainment and MLSE, the massive sporting conglomerate which owns Canadian sports franchises like Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and Toronto FC, dominating the sporting action in Ontario’s biggest city.

The partnership, which was announced last year, saw FanDuel Sportsbook become the official sports betting partner of MLSE, while PokerStars became its official iGaming partner, allowing the two to run promotions and events like Poker Night in Canada in the future.

Now that Poker Night in Canada is live, both partners will do their part by providing a series of special prizes, such as free tickets for Maple Leafs games and Red Spade Passes in an effort to promote the events and create the maximum buzz surrounding the new tournament series.

How to Play Poker Night in Canada

The Poker Night in Canada events will be available each Sunday through the PokerStars ON app, and you can find them under the special Poker Night in Canada tab in the tournament lobby.

Once there, you will be able to find the full schedule for upcoming events, with one event running each Sunday at this time.

To date, PokerStars has run two $1000 freerolls with Maple Leafs tickets added into the prize pools, as well as a $50 PKO event with an $8k guaranteed prize pool which significantly exceeded the prize pool and expectations as over 300 players signed up to play.

This coming Sunday, PokerStars ON will be running the first special $50 event with a $10k guarantee and a Red Spade Pass added to the prize pool, and we can expect even more players to sign up in pursuit of the valuable pass which allows winners to attend VIP events like Formula 1 races and other sporting competitions.

Moving forward, PokerStars ON will be running Poker Night in Canada each and every Sunday of the NHL season, so make sure to sign up for your free account and don’t miss another Sunday night of exciting poker action and a chance to win some free Leafs tickets or a PokerStars Red Spade Pass.
