FanDuel said it will donate $50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation and $30,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Management Program in Alberta as part of its Alberta market-entry plans. The company plans to enter the province’s regulated iGaming market on July 13, pending final regulatory approval.
In a July 8 release, the company said it was making long-term investments in local communities and partnering with local and national organizations, while reinforcing its commitment to responsible gaming. Dale Hooper, FanDuel Canada’s general manager, called Alberta an “exciting new chapter” and said meaningful community engagement remains at the heart of the business.
The A Dollar A Day donation is meant to support frontline mental health programs. The company said it has given $150,000 to the group over the past three years to help mental health organizations across Ontario and Alberta.
The Canadian Red Cross contribution will go to its Emergency Management Program in Alberta. The aim is to help communities prepare for disasters, respond during crises and recover more quickly.
The Alberta launch would extend the company’s Canadian footprint beyond Ontario, where it already offers online sports betting and casino products. Alberta residents aged 18 and over could create an account on FanDuel.ca before the planned launch.
The rollout also includes an exclusive partnership with Light & Wonder to bring the Huff N’ Puff franchise to Alberta players, pending regulatory approval. A renewed multi-year agreement with the Canadian Football League extends the deal into Alberta and adds casino as a new category.
The company also highlighted its title sponsorship of the Cowboys Stampede Showdown Charity Poker Tournament, which supports the Calgary Stampede Foundation. The tournament has raised more than $1.3 million over time, and the 2026 edition raised $260,000, a record.
Separately, Alberta has finalized responsible gaming rules ahead of the market opening. A report from Covers said those measures include a centralized Day 1 self-exclusion system, mandatory promotion of the system by licensed operators, refunds for eligible unsettled futures wagers when players self-exclude and RG Check accreditation for operators.
