As the PokerStars NL Hold’Em Players Championship (PSPC) edges ever closer, the number of Platinum Passes up for grabs is running lower, but PokerStars still has a few more ready to give out.

In a brand new promotion, PokerStars’ ambassador Jennifer Shahade is giving away one $30,000 Platinum Pass for the 2023 PSPC to the player who can tell her the most interesting story of a poker hand they have played.

The competition is open to all Canadian and US players until December 14, with players encouraged to use humor, strategic insights, and any other storytelling elements they deem fit to tell their hand and impress Shahade.

The whole promotion revolves around Shahade’s popular The Grid podcast, which has seen several world-famous poker players like Chris Moneymaker come on as guests and tell the tales of their most memorable poker hands.

The Competition in a Nutshell

The PSPC Platinum Pass competition will run until Wednesday, December 14, and will allow all Canadian and US PokerStars players to submit their stories and have them reviewed by Shahade.

Players can submit their poker story as audio, text, or video and are encouraged to share as much detail as possible, be it strategic ones, or the more entertaining ones pertaining to particular players they played against or situations they found themselves in.

There are no limitations or specific instructions as to what participants can talk about. The winner of the hand does not matter, and it is immaterial whether the hand was played in accordance with today’s high standards of poker strategy.

PokerStars and Shahade are looking for the most exciting and entertaining hand out there, encouraging players to share their bad beats and any misplayed hands that went better than expected.

The player selected by Jennifer and her team as the winner will be awarded a PSPC package, which includes:

  • Buy-in for the $25,000 PSPC
  • $1900 in cash for expenses
  • Six nights at a 5-star hotel for the winner and their guest
  • Airport transfer
  • Extra Platinum Pass experience

Winning a Platinum Pass is likely the best way to attend the PSPC and enjoy it in full, with the extra perks of being one of the winners and having access to various unique events worth just as much as the tournament itself.

How to Submit Hands

Those looking to get involved with this fun and rewarding competition must follow a specific process to successfully submit their entries.

The entry should be sent to the [email protected], with the subject line: “Platinum Hand + [Your Name].” The email body needs to include the player’s full name, country, a brief introduction of a few sentences, and a link to where the actual hand was submitted.

Hands can be uploaded to popular social networks like YouTube, Twitter, and Vimeo, as well as personal blogs, forums, and other online places.

It is critical that the hand be submitted on an open social profile or another place where it can be accessed. Players submitting their entries on social media need to include the #PlatinumPokerHand hashtag to make sure it’s seen by the community.

All hand submissions will be judged based on their colorfulness, insights, creativity, presentation, and flow by a team made up of Sam Grafton, Maria Ho, Mark Foresta, Brad Willis, Ales O’Brien, and Keith Becker.
